On Christ The Solid Rock I Stand - Be Encouraged During Hard Times

So, you are feeling down?  Maybe even going through the lowest of low times in your life? This shouldn't be your are a saved Christian (you say to yourself). You are doing your best to submit to God in your life...or are you?

Hey, I have been here. I fail to submit to God's will on a weekly basis. I start taking life into my own hands and try to find the strength to carry on. The truth is that the huge burdens I bare are not meant to be my own. The Bible says:

Matthew 11:28-30  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  (29)  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  (30)  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

We are suppose to go to him if we are heavy with burdens and cares.  He is the one who gives us rest. Without him there is no rest. The devil wants nothing more than to take you off the set. He wants to make you stop doing anything for God in your life.

1 Peter 5:8  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

He will eat you up if you let him. This world will eat you up if you let it. The cares of this world will eat you up if you let them. Don'f forget about the verse right before 1 Peter 5:8, and the verses right after it...

1 Peter 5:7  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
1 Peter 5:9-10  Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.  (10)  But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

If you resist the devil having faith in God, you can overcome anything you are facing in this life.

James 4:7  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

I am writing this to be an encouragement to you today Christian! I am writing this today to encourage mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, children. Don't be so overcome by satan and the cares of this life that you forget the peace that God wants for you to have in your life.

Philippians 4:6-7  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  (7)  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Most of all I am writing this for myself! We all go through hard times. Thank God he never leaves us or gives up on us. You might want to run away from your life. But I encourage you to run into Jesus' arms. Don' think about the life you cannot have right now. Find happiness in doing the will of God from day to day. Lean wholly upon the Lord.

Hebrews 13:5-6  Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.  (6)  So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Start by getting on your knees and thanking the Lord for all He has done in your life then open your Bible and read for a good chunk of time TODAY! Sing some hymns, they are so comforting! That is why God said:

Eph 5:19-20  Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;  (20)  Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

On Christ The Solid Rock I Stand...

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
  All other ground is sinking sand.
When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Botanic Garden Fieldtrip

On Friday we had a field trip of sorts, to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. We originally planned to go to a plant sale they were having but learned after we arrived that it was on the other side of the huge garden and that we would have to get back in our van and drive there. The kids were having a blast checking out the place, so my friend C and I decided to do a quick tour of a small portion of the garden before heading to the plant sale. Here are a few pictures from our spontaneous field trip. (We never did make it to the plant sale...)

My little red.
So happy!

Life With Our Sweet New Baby

Things have only slowed down just enough to recover and recharge after having baby Joel in February.  He was born on the 22nd, right on his due date and made a grand entrance with his shocking red hair! The whole family has been overjoyed to have this little precious baby a part of our daily chaos. I have been enjoying the short moments of quiet while holding his tiny little body at night while the rest of the house sleeps. Joel is up! His sweet baby talk and bright eyes make me smile and even giggle a little, even at 3am.

It seems as though I have very little brain power left to accomplish my weighty goals each day. It may be a combo of baby brain and lack of sleep keeping me from my "normal" days. I have decided that when a day is in many areas disfunctional, not to push too hard to stay on track, but to back off and try to get as much accomplished as we can without being too picky about how or when it gets done. On those type of days I may just blow my top for no reason if I push too hard. I make a pot of coffee or a cup of tea (or 5) and take the day slow and steady. This is what life is like with 7 small children!

This week we have begun a new school year! It feels so nice to be somewhat back in the swing of things. I have added some new subjects to my kiddos curriculum and I am feeling very satisfied with my choices so far. We used to take every Monday off of school to catch up on chores and do errands but I have decided that my chores won't ever get done so why not take off Fridays and enjoy the weekend with my kids doing something fun?

I have so many things I want to write these days but I just don't have the energy for it, and that must be ok, right? I have a 6 week old baby boy and 6 other children under 10 years old. The laundry and dishes are never completely done but I choose to have a smile on my face and to cherish my little people for the days are slipping away too fast!

I hope you are having a blessed week.
