If you love hot dogs, Mexican food, and bacon, you will probably enjoy a Sonoran hot dog. So here I will give you the specifics on how to whip up your own. First you need to make some Pico de Gallo and Salsa Verde.
Pico de Gallo
4-5 tomatoes diced
1/2 of an onion diced
1/2 cup of finely chopped cilantro
1-2 jalapenos diced
juice from 1 lemon
salt and pepper to taste
Mix all ingredients together and taste. YUM!
6 tomatillos chopped
1/2 onion chopped
1/2 cup cilantro
2 cloves garlic
squeeze of lime juice
Blend all ingredients in blender until smooth. Pour into a medium saucepan and simmer for 15 minutes. Add salt to taste.
Now, time to wrap the hot dogs in bacon.
Fry on medium heat, turning frequently.
***Tips -place open ends of bacon down on frying pan. So they wont unwrap on you and make sure that end is good an crispy before you turn it. Use thinner bacon too! :)
Once the bacon is crispy all around, remove and set on paper towels. Drain some of the grease and place your bun into pan to toast the inside a bit. Next, smear mayo on the inside of the bun. Then add a little yellow mustard. Place the hot dog inside the bun. Add your Pico de Gallo and Salsa Verde (drain juices first). Top with a little grated cheese. Now...CHOW DOWN!
